How The Lion King Impacted me

Disney was rolling with so many great films from Little Mermaid in 1989 onward.  Then came The Lion King. This movie changed my life when it comes to films and I think many people of my generation can say the same.

Before this movie there were films which made me laugh, inspired me, gave me a sense of dread, broke my heart.  This was the first film I watched in theaters to do all of that an more in one sitting.

The Lion King is a work of sheer brilliance, yes it has plenty of secrets like Nazi goosestepping  and basically follows the plot of Hamlet, but it is superbly executed.  Every member of the voice cast was great. The music by Elton John and others was perfection.  The philosophical aspects within the movie transcendent.  This movie changed how animated films would be made in the sense of humor and concepts.

The Lion King was a game changer. It made me a from a young kid who enjoyed films sometimes into a guy who loved films. The film does everything that must be done in order to be an absolute masterpiece.
