The Rewind (1990s)There’s Something About Mary

There’s Something About Mary (1998)

Genre:  Comedy, Romance

Directors: The Farrelly Brothers

Starring: Ben Stiller,  Cameron Diaz,  Matt Dillon, Chris Elliot, Sarah Silverman.

Ted (Stiller) gets a second chance to meet up with Mary (Diaz), his dream girl from high school. It is a surprising event since this first date back then ended in disaster.

This is a great comedy from the late 1990’s, among the very best work from the Farrelly brothers.  I think this movie speaks to many who blew the first date with someone awesome, but somehow get a second chance.  There are some really gross/disturbing jokes inside, but it adds some bite to a comedy that would otherwise be average.

The work of Cameron Diaz and Ben Stiller makes this comedy better than it probably should be.  There isn’t a lot of depth to it, but certainly wouldn’t ruin your night to watch it.  (Unless you are squeamish about sexual situations and fluids )

I think everyone should watch this film once. Among the better comedies of the 1990s.
