Trick r Treat (2007)
Genre: Horror, Thriller
A movie about several stories which revolve around one particular neighborhood. A high school principal who happens to be a serial killer; a college virgin who has a dark secret, a group of teens pull a mean prank a woman who loathes Halloween must deal with her holiday crazed husband, and a nasty old man meets his match with a demonic, supernatural trick -or treater.
This movie is great for those who enjoy spooky stories around Halloween. It has violence and gore and a ridiculous monster (several actually). If you love creepy horror stories all woven together, this is the film for you.
I’m not a fan of the movie, but that may be partially due to its design. I never felt attached to any of the characters, all of which I found unrealistic, unpleasant, and boring. The violence was excessive at times (gore for me is for shock value= cheap). The movie isn’t scary so much as it is gross. To be fair, it is designed around several short stories that are somehow connected, however I almost never enjoy movies with that storytelling style.
Just because I didn’t like it, doesn’t mean you should give up on Trick r Treat. It may be worth a scare or two and may fit perfectly into your Halloween celebration.
