Special New Releases for July 1st, 2015 (Robot box-office battle. Arnold vs Tatum)

Terminator Genisys

Genre:Action, Adventure, Science Fiction

Starring: Arnold Schwarzenegger, Matt Smith, J.K. Simmons

IMDB: 7.4 of 6,338 ratings

The continuation of the Terminator franchise.  Where Kyle Reese is sent back in time by John Connor to protect his mother, Sarah Connor from the coming of a Terminator.  However, when he arrives, she already knows and nothing is as it is expected to be.

This movie has been controversial. Firstly, because the last two films  (especially Terminator Salvation) were disappointments. Why make another movie that likely can’t live up to the first two in the series?

Once again, the trailers for this movie show far too much. It’s even reported that much of the action in the movie is on display in the trailer.  Finally, the reviews have been average at best.  Though I’m hearing good things about Arnold in this film. A professional among amateurs in this film it seems.

. It looks almost certainly much improved from the aforementioned Salvation, and possibly better than Terminator 3.  That doesn’t mean it will belong with the greatness of the first two films, but it can be yet another big dumb summer blockbuster.

This fluff may be okay time to time, but I don’t think it should cover the entire blockbuster season (With few exceptions.)

Magic Mike XXL

Genre: Comedy, Drama, Music

Starring:  Channing Tatum, Gabriel Inglesias

Rotten Tomatoes 64% 6.2/10

A sequel to Magic Mike (2012). This film is basically for those who want to watch studly guys get up on stage and strip. This is pure eye candy for women (and certain men). . This movie knows its eye candy and probably will make decent money.  Plot, characters, and other devices like it are second to the sexiness factor. However, much like the first film, there will likely be effort to develop the characters and their darker stories behind the scenes.

Basically, this movie is coming out at a perfect time. It’s the sequel to a popular movie, it still features at least one heartthrob from the original film (Channing Tatum). It likely will seek a different audience completely different than those wanting to see Terminator Genisys.
