Jurassic Park (1993)
Genre: Adventure, Science Fiction, Thriller
Starring: Sam Neill, Jeff Goldblum, Richard Attenborough, Samuel L. Jackson, Wayne Knight
During a preview tour of a park featuring dinosaurs brought back from extinction, there is a major power breakdown which allows for several of the dinosaurs including Velociraptors and a Tyrannosaurus Rex to break loose into the park. Now the group of survivors must trek through jungles to find safety and restore power to the park without getting eaten by carnivorous Jurassic predators.
This is one of the best movies ever made and among my favorites all time as well. I loved dinosaurs growing up and this movie both left me in awe, but also made me glad they aren’t around today. Nearly every scene fits perfectly together. All of the characters make you feel something either favorably or unfavorably. The movie has situational humor, a great script inspired by a good novel by Michael Crichton (though not exactly the same), and is loaded with memorable scenes.
Only a handful of movies created in twenty years ago can still hold up as good as Jurassic Park has. Because it didn’t use much CGI but rather animatronics and practical effects, the film still looks incredible. It is a science fiction masterpiece of a movie.
