Rewind- The 1960’s- Jason and the Argonauts (1963)

Jason and the Argonauts (1963)

Now I know what many people think. You see one ancient Greek mythology based movie and you’ve seen them all. There is some truth to that. However, Jason and the Argonauts is an awesome film.  This is about Jason and his band of heroes on the search for the Golden Fleece.  They will battle great monsters and legendary Greek mythological beasts and dangers to find it. The movie has plenty of action. Yes, the effects are dated (big time), but they still have some camp value. Of course, I wouldn’t mind seeing a remake of this film with today’s special effects technology. (Then again, I saw Clash of the Titans (2010 and I’m still traumatized.)  The action and story work and I feel the movie is directed more for a younger audience, but I still appreciate the film today.  It has some likeable characters and a few crewmen like Hercules who you actually kind of care about. A remake must focus on the characters and then add the special effects. (I’ll write it for them.  Still waiting on a call from a studio.)
