X-Men: First Class (2011)
Here is a movie that revived a dying franchise that was the X-Men. We all remember the horrors of that third X-Men movie which destroyed so much potential the series had created. This film took us back to where it all began. The creation of the X-Men and the rift between Magneto and Professor X (Erik and Charles). I really liked the bulk of the cast from the original trilogy, but the cast director for this movie did a fine job as well. Michael Fassbender as Magneto, James McAvoy as Professor X, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, Nicholas Hoult as Beast, and January Jones as Emma Frost. We even get Kevin Bacon playing Sebastian Shaw.
This movie was well-directed by Matthew (Who also directed the highly anticipated Kingsman: the Secret Service and the Fantastic Four reboot.) The film was exceptional considering previous X-Men films. What I liked about it was how it placed the X-Men into key moments in history and showing their impact on the world stage. It also shared with us some more insight on why Erik became the man he is and how these original X-Men grew apart. It takes a refreshing look at these characters and allows you to grow with them. See their various philosophies develop. I feel this film is one of the stronger X-Men movies ever made and revived the franchise back from the dead.
