Treasure of the Sierra Madre (1948) is coming on TCM later this month and so in hopes to inspire others to watch it I’ve decided to talk about this film. It is a great film from the 1940’s starring Humphrey Bogart (interesting guy, great actor). Once again, the plot is simple. Two young Americans go down to Mexico in search of work. Get convinced to go gold digging in the Sierra Madre mountains; adventure follows. It’s actually what I love about films prior to the rise of CGI and other special effects techniques. You can build a story simply on the efforts of the combination of good writing and acting. There is plenty of emotion and intrigue throughout this movie. If you are a fan of movies, then check your local listings for when this comes on. It’s worth a view and for many, several more views after that.
